^

They say you can't buy friends, but that doesn't mean you can't cash in on your friendships. If you act fast, you can make some money just by getting your friend to come play the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure with you.

PokerStars has put together a cool Refer A Friend offer for the PCA. It's open until December 22. If you're going to the PCA, you can invite a friend and make $500 for doing it.

Here's how it works: you find a friend who hasn't played in the last couple of PCAs (that's 2014 and 2015 if you're not up on what year it us). Send that person's name, date of birth and PokerStars ID to pca@pslive.com. If you both end up playing the PCA Main Event, PokerStars will give you $500 when you get to the Bahamas. That will buy more than a few Kaliks!

SCRATCHEZZ Alphanumeric lottery game system—PHRAZZES

In a second major step forward, inventors Craig Sedoris and Gary Kadlec have received notice of allowance on their second patent application.  This time it is for a novel AlphaNumeric game system that enables lottery players to enter letters, numbers and symbols in virtually any combination, creating a personalized Instant online scratch-off game they call SCRATCHEZZ.  Players click on covered spots on the online card, trying to match some or all of those characters to win.  When the game is complete, players click a REVEAL ALL button to see where all of the winning characters were on the card.

This is certain to be an engaging game when lottery players can play their kids' or spouses' names, a favorite pet, recording artist, movie star or a sports team name or player.  In fact there are more than 2.7 billion combinations playable on the 6 character game available for fun at www.phrazzeslottery.com.  "JOHNNY", "4PEACE", "@LANTA" and "MYKIDS" are examples of the virtually unlimited possibilities players can create.  "There is not another lottery game giving players the ability to customize a game to their personal interests," Kadlec said.

This approval follows the September patent approved on an AlphaNumeric Slot game system.  Both of the very flexible game concepts have applications in lotteries and casinos in addition to regulated online gaming markets in the US and Internationally.  Stressing that the games they have trademarked as PHRAZZES are revolutionary and something really new, not just different the Inventors have initiated the process to protect the concept Internationally.  Dozens of played examples can be seen on Instagram at #phrazzes_lottery.

Google surveys of over 2,300 respondents showed that 62% of all lottery players liked a game offering letters, numbers and characters versus just numbers and the interest was highest in the 18-34 age bracket reaching 71%.

For fun you can play SCRATCHEZZ 6 Character Instant Win game at http://mastersoftwaretechnologies.com/pharazze-scratchee/#   Sedoris points out that this game includes the very novel feature of a REVEAL ALL button.  After the player has clicked to "scratch off" a spot in each column and that specific game is complete, the player can click REVEAL ALL and see exactly where the winning characters in their personal phrase were for that game.  This clearly illustrates players actually have the chance to win every time they play the game.  The winner is not predetermined.

Promising something truly revolutionary, not just evolutionary, the Inventors are beginning to market the patent protected game concepts to lottery and slot manufacturers interested in a licensing agreement.  That licensing agreement may be exclusive for a period of time.

As they say, "Players looking for gaming entertainment have many options.  We believe they will find PHRAZZES to be very new, fun and engaging.  It may be the next BIG thing!"

2015 PokerStars Year in Review

By any standard, by any metric, in any way of looking at it, 2015 was a PokerStars year no one will ever forget.

It was a year that saw living legends like Neymar Jr and Cristiano Ronaldo join the PokerStars fold. It was the year Jason Somerville and Jaime Staples blazed the PokerStars trail into the Twitch community. PokerStars' live tourneys broke records at almost every stop. Spin & Go tournaments made more new millionaires than we could count. Team Pro Daniel Negreanu nearly made the biggest final table in the world. At times, it was hard to keep up with it all. We did, of course. This was the year the PokerStars Blog celebrated ten years of covering all things PokerStars, and we weren't about to let up.

It's been a wild ride in 2015, and we'd have had no reason to do it if not for you, the loyal PokerStars Blog readers. Hundreds of thousands of you visited our little place on the internet millions of times. Every time you show up, it gives us more reason to find the best stories and tell them here. So, from all of us: thank you.

We're already geared up for what looks to be an amazing 2016. If you want to keep up with us all the time, be sure to follow us on Twitter at our @PokerStarsBlog account.

In the meantime, here are our top stories from 2015.
