NYC Police Observe Need for Regulated Sports Betting

New York's police commissioner noted that illegal sports betting is harmful, proving a necessity for regulate sports gambling.

Cherry Red Casino! The police commissioner of latest York City mentioned this week exactly what gaming advocates was saying, that illegal sports betting is hurting society. Gambling analysts have reported repeatedly that regulating sports gambling is wanted to finish the huge sports wagering black market.

“Illegal gambling and money laundering aren't victimless crimes," said Raymond W. Kelly at a press conference announcing an incredible sports betting raid. "The proceeds from illegal sports betting are used to fuel organized crime and support harmful criminal enterprises."

State lawmakers have asserted that sports betting exists even supposing the federal ban against it continues, only in an illegal and untaxed form. Delaware and New Jersey lead quite a few states fighting the NFL and the dept of Justice at the laws making sports gambling illegal.

NFL representatives have claimed just a minute percentage of its fans are gambling, despite figures indicating sports wagering on football alone involves billions of bucks in illegal plays. Legislators desirous to regulate this activity both to create revenue and protect consumers argue that illegal sports betting is doing significant harm.

Kelly spoke at a statement of the arrest of virtually 40 people in a handful of states for taking almost $200 million in action over three years. The necessity to regulate sports betting and stop this illegal gaming struck even the commissioner.

Las Vegas Casino Mogul Bob Stupak Dies

Bob Stupak, who brought Las Vegas the Vegas World and Stratosphere Casinos, died this week after a lifetime of helping shape the gambling town.

In a Las Vegas world increasingly more dominated by corporations in place of the colourful personalities of the past, the death of Bob Stupak Friday leaves rather less pizzazz at the Strip. Stupak is noted for founding both Vegas World and t5he Stratosphere, the needle-like structure that reaches higher into the sky than some other Vegas casino resort.

Stupak have been diagnosed with leukemia a while ago, and the disease finally took him this week after an extended fight. The legendary casino operator was 67.

Stupak was a master of promotion, either one of himself and his garish gambling venues. In 1996, Stupak was named "Mr. Las Vegas" by the town Council.

Stupak understood easy methods to keep his name within the papers, and the way to make use of that to the benefit of his casinos. He famously bet 1,000,000 dollars at the Super Bowl in 1989, and won his bet. Stupak is credited with being the primary to provide a million-dollar jackpot on a spin of a slot machine.

Stupak was also as much a gambler as an operator, being a standard player on the World Series of Poker. He built the Stratosphere's tower as high because the FAA would allow, noting that he could look down on some other casino and gambling joint in town.

In a city made great by men like Benny Binion and Bugsy Segal, Bob Stupak was another of the larger-than-life figures which are passing from the penthouses of Las Vegas into lore. The town is smaller without him.

Australian Football Star Says He Has Problem with Online Gambling

A football star from down under has gone public along with his difficulty in controlling his online gambling and horse race wagering, saying he needs counseling.

OnlineVegas.com! Brendan Fevola, a celebrity forward for the Brisbane Lions of the Australian Football League, came forward and said problem gambling had put him deep in debt and driven him to hunt counseling. Fevola says he lost thousands and thousands of greenbacks betting on horse racing, slots, and online gambling, especially Internet poker.

Fevola adamantly denied his troubles had by any means affected him as a football player, and said he had never bet on a football game. He says he told his coach of his difficulties in January, and started undergoing therapy the next month.

Fevola is solely recently a Lion, as he was received in trade from Carlton after embarrassing the team with public drunkenness and crude behavior. Scientists have found that impulse control with gambling is in general related to broader control problems, equivalent to substance abuse and alcoholism.

"I have a gambling issue and that i wish to knock it at the head," said Fevola at the AFL Footy Show. "It hasn't affected my footy, but by addressing it I'M HOPING I CAN pop out the opposite end a greater person."

According to reporters at the Australian TV show, Fevola owes over $100,000, including debts to a few bookmakers. Some sources say the debt is definitely over $300,000, but lawyers for Fevola dispute that, saying $100,000 continues to be high.

Online Poker Expanding to Mobile at PokerStars

PokerStars bought Cecure, an organization that develops mobile gaming software, because the online poker operator prepares for the growing boom in mobile gambling.

OnlineVegas.com! In order to best expand its online gambling operations into new areas, PokerStars is preparing for mobile gaming by purchasing Cecure Gaming. Cecure is a software developer that specialize in gaming over mobile devices.

Cecure already operates its own mobile gambling brand, Aces Royal, and the purchase of the corporate is seen as PokerStars' first move in bringing its online poker kingdom to cellphones and other mobile outlets.

Cecure were seeking a buyer, having suffered poor customer development in the course of the recession. No financial details of the deal were released.

"Accessing buyers and investors within the gaming market is notoriously difficult," said a Cecure spokesman. "WE'RE delighted to was in a position to secure a deal for the sale of those assets."

While mobile gambling isn't available within the US, European markets are rapidly growing for the best type of gaming. PokerStars has perhaps the highest brand online, and corporate officials have the desire to make sure they stay sooner than market changes to advance their brand.
