In order to best expand its online gambling operations into new areas, PokerStars is preparing for mobile gaming by purchasing Cecure Gaming. Cecure is a software developer specializing in gaming over mobile devices.
Cecure already operates its own mobile gambling brand, Aces Royal, and the acquisition of the company is seen as PokerStars' first move in bringing its online poker kingdom to cell phones and other mobile outlets.
Cecure had been seeking a buyer, having suffered poor customer development during the recession. No financial details of the deal were released.
"Accessing buyers and investors in the gaming market is notoriously difficult," said a Cecure spokesman. "We are delighted to have been able to secure a deal for the sale of these assets."
While mobile gambling is not available in the US, European markets are rapidly growing for the most convenient form of gaming. PokerStars has perhaps the top brand online, and company officials want to make sure they stay ahead of market changes to advance their brand.
