Jerry Yang, 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion, will take to the tournament poker tables of Diamond Jim’s Casino during its Inaugural No-Limt Hold’Em Poker Tournament at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010, to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central California.
Proceeds from the Texas Hold’Em tournament will go to make wishes come true to Kern County Make-A-Wish children.
Tournament players will have a chance to go head-to-head with Yang, who turned $225 into more than $8.2 million when he captured the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event championship. Yang donated 10% of his Main Event winnings to three charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s mission is to grant wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Four Kern County children are awaiting their wishes to come true through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central California. Kyle, 6, suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy and wishes for him and his family to take a trip to Hawaii; Hina, 18, has Sickle Cell Anemia and wishes to travel to Washington D.C. to meet President Barack Obama; Kaleb, 4, suffers from liver failure and wishes to take a Disney Cruise; and Jenn, 7, suffers from Medulla Blastoma and wishes to visit Disney World.
