LAPT8 Panama: Kazemipur comes back

Shakeeb Kazemipur dipped a bit forther before he came back to win LAPT8 Panama.

After Olga Iermolcheva took back the lead, she continued to hack away at Kazemipur.

With just a few million left, Kazemipur raised to 160,000 and Iermolcheva called. The flop came [as][qd][Ts] and Kazemipur bet 125,000. Iermolcheva called and a [7s] came on the turn. Kazemipur bet 175,000 and Iermolcheva called again.

A [4c] completed the board and Kazemipur put out a final bet of 250,000. Iermolcheva called and took down the pot with [ah][Tc] to Kazemipur's [ad][5c].

Kazemipur dipped to just 1.2 million and battled with his short stack for some time before scoring a double up.

After a few uncalled all-ins, Iermolcheva finally called with [jh][js] but Kazemipur showed [ac][kh] for a flip.

The board ran [2c][ad][4d][Ts][Th] and Kazemipur doubled to about 3.1 million.

Then Kazemipur took back the lead, Iermolcheva raised to 200,000 and Kazemipur re-raised to 510,000.

Iermolcheva flop came [ac][7h][6d] and Kazeimpur bet 450,000. Iermolcheva called and a [5c] came on the turn.

Kazemipur moved all-in and Iermolcheva folded. Kazemipur was closing in on Iermolcheva and the took back the lead after a few hands.

All of the sudden, Iermolcheva couldn't catch a hand and she was chipped down to just a few million.

Down to just 1.5 million, Iermolcheva moved all-in with [ad][jc] and Kazemipur called with [ac][6c].

The board ran [as][ks][4d][3c][7h] and Iermolcheva doubled back up to 3 million.

But Iermolcheva wouldn't mount a successful comeback.

Kazemipur limped and Iermolcheva checked her option.

The flop came [2s][2h][jc] and both players checked. A [Ts] came on the turn and Iermolcheva bet 200,000. Kazemipur called and an [ad] fell on the river. Iermolcheva bet 500,000 and Kazemipur moved all-in.

Iermolcheva called and showed [2c][6d] for trip deuces but Kazemipur had a full house with [ac][as].

Iermolcheva won $113,580 for the 2nd place finish while Kazemipur took the title and $180,112.

IPT Malta: Level 16 updates (2,000/4,000/500)

7.00pm: Last three hands
Mike Neuens, Hugo Lemaire, Guy Bachar, JC Alvarado and Balazs Botond are all vying for the chip lead as the players play the final three hands of the day. To find out who finished the day as chip leader, please check out the recap.

6.40pm: Last 30 minutes
With the elimination of Tadas Gromas, the tournament will play out the remainder of this level before finishing for the night.

6.30pm: Tadas Gromas bubbles IPT Malta
Three eliminations left the tournament on the bubble fairly quickly. Hand-for-hand was implemented but it took about 10 minutes before the bubble hand was allowed to be played.

A previous hand saw Glenn Cymbaluk all in on the turn of a [5d][9c][2h][3h] board with [Jd][Jc] against Joni Jouhkimainen's [5h][4s]. The [3s] on the river doubled up the Canadian to over 200,000.

After this Tadas Gromas was all in preflop with [Ad][As] against Igor D`Ursel's [Jh][Jc], the Lithuanian player was seemingly heading for a double up but the board ran out [2c][3s][Js][9h][Ts] and D'Ursel spiked a jack to send Gromas to the rail and guarantee everyone else a payout of at least €1,740.

6.11pm: Lemaire leads
There are just 195 players remaining, Hugo Lemaire is the chip leader with 700,000.

6.05pm: Botond knocks out Rodriguez
Javier Rodriguez is the latest player out, he lost a coinflip with [7d][7s] to Balazs Botond's [Ad][Jd] when the board came [Kd][8d][Qh][Tc][Ah]. Botond is up to 500,000.

5.57pm: Level 16 - 2,000/4,000/500
Level 16 has begun with an announcement that they if the bubble has not burst by the end of this level then they will continue to play until it does.

LAPT8 Panama: The rail ratio

Rule 2a of sub-section III on rails reads: The size of a rail is inversely proportional to the amount of tables left.

Play has gotten down to the final three tables and tournament staff has had to whip out the ropes to keep spectators at bay.

A large group of those spectators are Brazilians, cheering on their two remaining countrymen.

One of those Brazilians is Fernando Brunca Garcia, who was the Brazilian Series of Poker Player of the Year back in 2013.

Fernando_Brunca_Garcia_LAPT8_Panama.jpg

In that year, Garcia won multiple Pot-Limit Omaha events and took down the Sao Paolo High Roller for $123,035.

While PLO is Garcia's specialty, he's no stranger to NLHE at the LAPT.

In 2013, Garcia scored an LAPT Main Event cash right here in Panama.

In that event, Garcia finished 19th and won $4,900. Now Garcia is in the final 20 and is guaranteed $8,660, he needs to survive one more elimination to beat his LAPT record.

On the other side of the tournament area is a different type of rail, a television rail.

LAPT8_Panama_Television_Rail.jpg

Tullio Bertoli's television rail.

They're all seated around a television showing the feature table live stream. The feature table set up isn't conducive to rail birds, so a large group of Tullio Bertoli fans have set up at a table to watch their fellow Venezuelan play.

Leading the pack is Tullio's older brother, Jesus Bertoli.

Jesus knows what his little brother is going through since he made an LAPT final table himself back in season one.

The group recently exploded when Tullio doubled up.

Tullio moved all-in for 313,000 with [Qh][Qc] and got called by [Ad][As]. The flop came [2s][Td][Ks] and the crowd started calling for a queen. The turn acquiesced with a [Qd].

Celebration

They cheered for a few seconds but then fell silent, hoping the river would bring anything but a jack.

The river was an [8s] and they continued their celebration.

Tullio Bertoli is now up to about 600,000.

PPS final table set, João Costa leads

Thumbnail image for ps_news_thn.jpgThe final table of the PokerStars Portugal Poker Series Figueira da Foz is set, with João Costa leading the way with 579,000 chips. He was chip leader after Day 1A and rarely lost his place at the head of the field.

Costa took advantage of his substantial lead and two long bubble periods to put pressure on his opponents and extent his lead further. The money bubble lasted one hour and fifteen minutes - and the final table bubble lasted 15 minutes more than that!

In both of them, Costa worked his stack well and it was he who busted the money bubble boy, João Bartolo, when he made trip fives to bust pocket aces.
