Danny Tang Explains Peculiar Hand Against Chance Kornuth | PokerNews
The 2016 PokerStars.es EPT Season 13 Barcelona festival continues to transport toward its finish this weekend, with the €5,300 Main Event a few of the marquee tournaments still to complete.
There was many interesting hands thus far within the tournament, including one yesterday during Day 3 between Danny Tang and Chance Kornuth. During a break afterwards, Tang took time to research for our own Sarah Herring.
It was Level 15, where the blinds were 2,000/4,000 with a 5,000 ante. Tang explains below how after being dealt at the button he opened with a raise to 9,000 and it folded to Kornuth within the big blind.
As reported by PokerNews, before taking a look at his cards Kornuth quipped “Let’s see if I’ve got a playable hand,” then squeezed. “Oh look, I did,” he continued, and defended his big blind with a decision.
The flop came — like a “dream flop” explains Tang — and when checked to he continuation bet for 8,500 and got a call from Kornuth.
If we didn’t know from the video what Tang held, we wouldn’t realize what the at the turn meant — a straight flush. He had a monster, but could he get value from Kornuth?
The pair checked through on fourth street and when Kornuth made a gigantic pot-sized bet after the river , Tang after all raised, prompting puzzlement from Kornuth. Here what Tang has to mention both about how he played the hand and what Kornuth thought he may need had:
Kornuth would later bust in another interesting hand versus Anthony Chimkovitch, finishing in 136th place while Chimkovitch began Day 4 because the chip leader. Meanwhile Tang also came back on Day 4, sitting 62nd of 98 within the counts to start out the day.
