The Derrick Rose era in Chicago is over, because the former MVP was traded to the brand new York Knicks Wednesday, in a move that had just minimal effects at the 2016-17 NBA Championship futures.

In the deal, the Bulls will send Rose, Justin Holiday and a 2017 2nd-round pick for Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon.

While Rose can be a upgrade for the Knicks, if he can stay healthy, the move isn't enough to lead them to a contender and sportsbooks should a adjust mainly due the truth the Knicks are this type of public team.

"We'll lower the Knicks odds slightly, but not too much," Scott Cooley of BookMaker told Covers. "Despite the Knicks being largely inept, they're a public team and get championship action once a year so we'll must make a slight adjustment. It isn't such a lot Rose because it is the perception."

The adjustment is just a little larger over at CarbonSports, who've moved the Knicks from 125/1 to 75/1.

Most books haven't moved the Bulls title odds, sitting between 40/1 and 50/1.

Rose was the first overall selection by the Bulls within the 2008 NBA Draft and went directly to be named Rookie of the Year in 2008-09. He followed that by winning the league MVP just two years later.

Unfortunately for the ultra-talented Rose, injuries started to wreak havoc on his career.

Rose tore his ACL throughout the first round of the playoffs in 2012, causing him to overlook all the 2012-13 season and he hasn't ever been quite the similar since. He went directly to suffer a mess of injuries, playing in only 39 percent of possible games for the reason that 2012-13 season.

Rose averaged 16.4 points, 4.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game last season.
