Kid Poker. Hall of Famers. Movie premiers. This present day had it all.
Day 1A of Eureka6 Bucharest is now within the books, and it was a hectic day indeed. A COMPLETE of 253 players sat right down to play today, which smashes the 219-strong field who played on Day 1A of Eureka6 Rozvadov back in March.
After 10 45-minute levels, just 98 players remained to bag up chips they'll take through to Day 2 on Friday. The player who had the most productive day of all was Emanuel Victor Beteringhe who finished with a tremendous stack of 202,425.

Beteringhe is a 34-year-old teacher and recreational player from Bucharest who qualified for this tournament in a live satellite last night. He told us afterwards that had he not qualified, he wouldn't also have played! Well, he'll be glad he did as he'll be a number of the chip leaders when all of the Day 1 fields combine.
He had an around average stack at first of the last level, and as he had some meetings scheduled for Friday, he started playing aggressively with a "go big or go home" mentality. It worked. He told us he is not used to playing a large stack, so we'll see how he gets on Friday.
The other biggest stacks belong to Mihai Ciorteanu (191,600), Adrian Ionescu (162,300), Fahredin Mustafov (161,800), Bogdan Ioan Agica (155,000) and Alexandru Matti Armand (144,500).
There was a buzz within the room right from the get go as Daniel Negreanu was taking photos with fans and players before play even started.

He didn't play today, but he was up early for a press conference about 'Kid Poker' - the documentary about his life which had its Romanian premier within the tournament venue this evening. He'll be within the action tomorrow for Day 1B.
There were most people will there to observe the film, mainly because of the amount of eliminations we had today. Players who exited before the chip bags came out include Australian Poker Hall of Fame member Jason Gray, Ireland's David Lappin, online beasts Stefan 'Agentul' Dan and Slaven 'suarez BG' Popov, and Eureka4 Vienna winner Zoltan Gal.
Day 1B kicks off tomorrow at 12pm, and it's certain to be even bigger that today. They'll play 10 levels, after which at 9pm tomorrow there is a turbo Day 1C - a last-chance saloon for anyone who busted the A or B flight. Please note that if you happen to didn't already play, you can not register for Day 1C.

Fahredin Mustafov has the most important stack right now, with 157,000 in front of him. But with 20 minutes left to play, anything could happen. You'll want to stick around for the large stacks and a whole wrap on the end of the day.

You don't see too many string bets at this level of poker, and in case you do it's nearly always because of sticky chips. That is what happened to Ionut Dragos just now, and it ended costing him a little
He opened to 2,500 and got one caller - Karakolev Nedelcho to his direct left. The 2 saw a 7♣T♦J♥ flop, and both checked, taking us to the 7♥ turn. Dragos counted of venture of 3,400 and went to position them within the middle, but a single yellow 1K chip slipped off the pile, while the opposites stayed stuck together in his hand. He asked if he could still put the other 2,400 in, however the 1,000 bet stood (this hand happened before the extent went up, y'see).
Being something of an even sport, Nedelcho then put 4,000 in himself; technically raising, but really just near-enough matching what Dragos desired to bet within the first place. Dragos called.
The river was the 4♠ and both checked. Dragos showed the 8♣T♣ for a second pair, but that was no good against Nedelcho's Q♣J♣ who took it down. He only lost another 600, but Dragos can be more careful in future.

There's not up to an hour left to play today and the bust-outs are coming thick and fast. David Lappin is gone, as is Jason Gray.

We hadn't caught up with Bulgarian pro Fahredin Mustafov for a while, so we went over to peer how he was getting on. Rather well it turned out.
Five players still had cards in front of them when the J♦4♦2♥ flop fell, and after Oren Platoni checked Marius Gicovanu moved all-in for 14,100. Mustafov asked for a count, after which flat-called.
Everyone else gave it up and the cards were on their backs: 4♠4♥ for the Bulgarian - a suite of fours - against 3♥5♣ of Gicovanu - an up-and-down straight draw. The turn and river bricked for Gicovanu and Mustafov raked within the chips, bringing his stack as much as around 70,000.
So, on Table 4, sitting in Seat 4, with a collection of fours, Mustafov took it down.
9pm: Keeping it friendlyLevel 9 - Blinds 500/1,000 (100 ante)
Ionel Pruna opened to 2,500 from under the gun plus one, and Raoul Iancovici made the decision to his immediate left. Andrei Stoenescu made the decision from the massive blind and it was three players to the 9♥Q♦9♦ flop.
Both Stoenescu and Pruna checked it, so Iancovici saw a possibility to take it down. He put out a big gamble of 3,700 and it did indeed get the job done.
He did not have to, but he then showed the Q♣, which got table taps from the opposite players.

On the 21st floor of the InterContinental Hotel - the positioning of Eureka6 Bucharest - you will see that a meeting of individuals. They don't seem to be playing poker though; they're here to observe a movie.
OK - so this is a poker movie, but still. The Romanian premier of 'Kid Poker', a documentary about Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu's life, is going down tonight, with a cocktail ceremony to boot.

Negreanu could be playing Day 1B of the primary event tomorrow, so be sure to get back then to peer how he gets on.
8:25pm: Costea's cost leaves Saether seethingLevel 8 - Blinds 400/800 (100 ante)
It folded around to Cristian Costea within the cut-off and he made it 2,500 to move. Only Daniel Saether from the massive blind made the call, and the 2 saw a 3♣3♠4♥ flop fall. Both checked, just as they might at the A♦ turn.
When the 4♦ hit the river, Saether led for 2,500. Costea then announced "raise" and threw in a 5,000 chip, making to 5K to play. Saether didn't hear though as thought it was a choice. He almost turned his quit before the dealer said "raise" a little louder.
Saether then when into the tank for a few minutes before tablemate Savvas Omirou called the clock. Saether quickly gave it up.
8:10pm: Chiva takes a turn for the betterLevel 8 - Blinds 400/800 (100 ante)
Peters Tobias made it 1,900 from under the gun and that fetched a choice from Eugen Chiva. It folded to Andrei Acatincai and he made it 5,500 to go, and only Chiva came along to look a flop.
The dealer fanned the 7♠K♦5♣ and Chiva check-called a continuation bet of 7,000. The turn came the 3♦ and Chiva decided to jam for 10,700 and Acatincai snap-called, only to get the bad news.
He'd called with the K♠K♣ but were out-turned by the 5♥3♥ of Chiva, who had two pair. The river was the A♥ and Chiva doubled, while Acatincai dropped to 12,500.
Still, with a beard that virtually rivals Daniel Negreanu's, we're sure Acatincai will recover.

The price of poker keeps going up
7:39pm: Big blow to Lappin as Platoni has the goodsLevel 7 - Blinds 300/600 (75 ante)
David Lappin got off to a super start this afternoon, but one big hand has just cost him a large chunk of his chips.
Cosmin Calea kicked off the pot with a 1,600 open, which Lappin just called. Oren Platoni then made it 3,600 at the button, which Calea called. Lappin gestured for Platoni to boost his arm so he could see what number of chips he was playing, and when he was satisfied he raised again to 12,000.
"All-in," Platoni said instantly. Calea got out of how quickly, and Lappin threw in one chip to name the 26,075 shove, albeit with somewhat a sigh.
He felt he was in trouble along with his Q♥Q♠ and he was: Platoni had the A♦A♠.
The board ran out J♥8♥K♠J♦3♠ and Lappin is now right down to 14,000.
7:22pm: The associated fee was right, however the decision wasn'tLevel 7 - Blinds 300/600 (75 ante)
Silviu Togui opened to 1,500 and Catalin Luca made the decision from the cut-off. Here's where Gabriel Cuza raised it from the massive ignorant of 4,000, which only Luca called.
The flop came the 7♣3♥7♠ and Cuza checked, which let Luca take control of the betting with a stab of 5,000. It turned out to be a check raise though, and Cuza moved all-in for 13,250. Luca thought of it, counted out how much it will cost him to call, and figured he was priced in. He called.
It could be a nasty call with the K♣Q♥ though, as he'd need running cards to overcome Cuza's A♠A♥. It came the 5♦ and 2♦ to finish the board and Cuza got the double up.

After Petrica Lombada limped in middle position, Mihai Gheonu bumped up the cost of poker to 1,500. Both the blinds called - Gheorghe Nascutzy and Hristodorescu Daniel - and Lombada was prized in to return along.
The flop was the Q♣8♦K♦ and it checked back to the initial raiser. Gheonu made it 3,500, just for Nascutzy to check-raise all-in for around 22,000. Everyone folded and Nascutzy turned over the J♠T♥ for just an up-and-down straight draw.

There are numerous stomachs grumbling across the room as I keep hearing players asking if we're having a dinner break. As play stops around 10:15pm, the verdict is to plough on through, so there will be no supper until after that.

I've been told to maintain a watch on Anatoly Korochensky - a Russian player who's known to don't have any fear in splashing some chips. PokerStars Blog photographer Tomas Stacha has seen him around on quite a few stops and filled me in.

I just caught him taking down a pot, picking up the action on a T♦4♥7♦ flop. Korochensky led for 1,000 and got a decision from Nicolae Pana, taking us to the K♥ turn. It went check check and the 6♥ hit the felt at the river. Korochensky checked and Pana fired for 1,400. However, after Korochensky called he was forced to turn the J♥9♣ for nothing but a busted gutshot, while Korochensky took it down together with his Q♣4♣ for bottom pair.
5:40pm: Habra Cadabra and chips disappearLevel 5 - Blinds 150/300 (25 ante)
Niculae Eremia opened to 800, which led to Alexandru Florea calling from the cut-off and Orhan Rakipov calling from the button. The action didn't stop there though as Eitan Habra then installed a squeeze to 3,400, which only Rakipov called.
The pair saw the 2♥J♠K♣ flop and Habra instantly led out for 5,000 by throwing in a white 5K chip. Rakipov made a fast call.
The dealer burned and turned the Q♦ and Habra jammed. It was for 11,600, but Rakipov was the player in danger with 9,000 behind. He made the decision with the K♦7♦ and was sooner than Habra's A♣Q♠. The river was the 4♦ and Rakipov doubled, while Habra is crippled, all the way down to just 2,600.
5:30pm: While you flop, you cannot stopLevel 5 - Blinds 150/300 (25 ante)
They sure like to see flops here in Bucharest. We're seeing a lot of pots with four or five players seeing the primary three community cards, and it's creating a captivating dynamic.
Vlad Mocanu limped, then Lukacs Bulcsu made it 900 at the button. Florin Popescu called from the small blind, Petrica Constantin called from the big, and Mocanu came along too.
It came the 2♣K♠4♥ and it checked around, taking us to the Q♣ turn. Popescu decided to steer out for 1,600 and it was an even decision - everyone folded and he raked within the chips.

5:21pm: When push involves shoveLevel 4 - Blinds 100/200 (25 ante)
A pre-flop raising war saw Orhan Rakipov, Eitan Habra, and Dan Murariu all invest 1,700 into the pot to look the Q♣K♣9♣ flop land. Everyone checked.
That took us to the 9♥ turn. Rakipov checked, letting Habra take the betting lead with a 2,000 stab, which both called. Finally the 8♥ completed the board and it checked to Murariu. He counted out some chips and opted to fireplace 4,000 into the pot. Then out of nowhere Rakipov jammed for around 13,000. Habra got out of the way, and Murariu folded too, throwing in a faucet on table for his opponent.
5:05pm: Action all round and everyone's welcomeLevel 4 - Blinds 100/200 (25 ante)
We almost had a family pot over on Table 19. First Alexandru Boicea limped from early position, then Catalin Moraru made it 650 from Boicea's immediate left. Alexandru Arnautu called, as did Catalin Luca at the button, Marius Farcas from the small blind, and Radu Mocanu within the big blind. Boicea made the decision too.
That made it six to the flop, and it came the K♥9♣3♣. It checked to the pre-flop raiser, Moraru, who continued for 1,600 and got both the blinds to name (Farcas and Mocanu).
The J♥ turn landed and it checked to Moraru again, who fired 2,500. Only Mocanu made the decision to look the 4♠ river. Mocanu insta-checked and Moraru didn't waste time in checking either.

The King beat the Jack and the juicy pot slid to Moraru.
4:55pm: Easy game, eh Piturca?Level 4 - Blinds 100/200 (25 ante)
If only poker was as easy as Victorio Piturca just made it look.
First Vasile Zagon opened to 600, which Nicolae Pana, Piturca, and Marian Tiuntiuc all called. The flop came the K♠4♥T♠ and it checked around, resulting in the 5♦ at the turn. Once again, there has been no action and the river was the A♣. It checked to Piturca, he put out a big gamble of 2,100, and everybody folded.
Yep - easy game.

4:25pm: Break time
Players are taking a 10-minute break.
4:15pm: Biggest pot so farLevel 3 - Blinds 75/150
Sometimes on this line of labor it is all about being within the right place on the right time. I just happened to be hovering around Table 18 after I saw this large pot play out.
It started with an open to 400 from Stergios Alexandrakis, which was then three-bet to 1,350 by Mihai Ciprian Hanu. Vasile Paul Plastoi made the call, and the action was on Gheorghe Buciulica within the big blind when Alexandrakis, the unique raiser, called out of turn.
He apologised, before Buciulica four-bet to 4,650. Alexandrakis then took his call back and folded, as did Hanu, while Plastoi made the call.
The remaining duo saw the J♥8♥6♥ flop and Buciulica continued for 7,200. Plastoi called.
The turn was the 6♣, which both checked, leading us to the 5♥ river. There have been now four hearts on board, and Buciulica opted to test. Plastoi, who had shown no aggression within the hand thus far, then put out a big gamble of 11,000. It was essentially for Buciulica's entire tournament as he had little greater than 11,000 left behind.
Eventually he made the fold, and Plastoi blasted his way as much as a stack of 49,300. That will be good for the chip lead - we'll tell you after the break.
3:54pm: Hall of famerLevel 3 - Blinds 75/150
Australian Poker Hall of Fame inductee Jason Gray is here playing on Day 1A. With greater than $1.3 million in live winnings and cashes that extend back to 1992, Gray - who's also a skilled high stakes cash player - was officially inducted in 2012. What is it they say...the luck of the Irish? David Lappin might need just shown us an excellent example.
We picked up the action on a 4♦2♠4♥ flop, and the pot size indicated there were slightly action pre-flop. Iulian Azoicai led, but Lappin three-bet to 1,600 and was called.
The turn was the Q♠, which both checked, and the river another lady - the Q♥. Azoicai checked and Lappin put out a pot-sized bet of 6,025. Azoicai called but looked a bit disgusted when Lappin turned over the A♥Q♣ for a runner-runner boat! We never saw Azoicai's hand as he folded, but when we needed to guess he was probably ahead at the flop.
Azoicai's all the way down to 15,950, while Lappin has climbed to 35,800.

3:34pm: No showdown for KokoLevel 3 - Blinds 75/150
Israel's Yonatan Koko took down a large tournament here in Bucharest in December 2015 for $74,597, and he's off to an even start here today, building his stack above the 30,000 mark.
In his latest hand, he opened to 325 from middle position and got two callers in Robert Vaduva (button) and Christos Xanthopoulos (big blind). A 7♦2♠A♣ flop hit the felt and it checked to Koko who continued for 525. Only Vaduva made the call.
The 9♣ landed at the turn, but play bogged down with both players checking. The J♥ river saw Koko spring back to action with a 775 bet, and that was enough to take it down.

3:20pm: Cagey playLevel 2 - Blinds 50/100
Players started with a stack worth 500 big blinds, so it is not strange to peer some hands being played a little bit cagier than you may normally expect. You cannot win a tournament early on, after all.
In one hand, Cosmin Daniel Nedelea opened to 300 at the button and met a three-bet of 850 from Alexandru Cristian Florea within the small blind. Nedelea made the decision and the flop came the 7♣A♠K♣. There'd be no betting though; both checked and saw the 4♥ turn, which they'd also check on. Finally the J♦ arrived at the river and this time it was a double-palmed check from Florea, which Nedelea checked back again.
You might expect some smaller hands nevertheless it turned out Florea had the T♥T♣ which was beat by Nedelea's K♦8♦ for pair of Kings.
We've had no eliminations yet, but because the blinds grow so will the pots. There are 226 players within the action right now.
3pm: Lazar beams, while Anghel loses his wingsLevel 2 - Blinds 50/100
Gheorghe Handra made it 350 to move from middle position and got three callers: Lida Doron Zvi at the button, Victor Catalin Anghel from the small blind, and Lawrence Lazar from the big.
The four saw a T♠8♠9♦ flop fall and it checked to Anghel who made it 1,275. Only Lazar came along to peer the 5♥ turn, and he checked again. Anghel fired a second bullet of 2,625 which was called, and the dealer put out the 4♦ at the river. A 3RD and final bullet of 3,150 came from Anghel after it checked to him again, but Lazar announced a decision very quickly.
Anghel looked deflated and did not want to turn his cards, but eventually turned over the A♠Q♥ for Ace-high. Lazar was happy to take down the pot together with his T♣T♦ for a flopped set.
2:48pm: Agentul giantLevel 2 - Blinds 50/100
While Romanian player Stefan Dan won't have the beefiest live poker resume, his online CV is de facto stacked. He has greater than $887,000 in tournament winnings playing under the screen name 'Agentul', way to three Super Tuesday final tables, two WCOOP final tables, and wins within the Big $109 and large $55, simply to name a few.
He's playing today chasing his first big live score.

2:35pm: Nice start for TurculeanuLevel 1 - Blinds 25/50
It's always great to get off and running in a tournament; winning a pot early can settle any nerves.
After a player opened to 150, Mihai Sorin Turculeanu made the decision from the cut-off, as did George Cosmin Dumitrascu from the large blind. The flop came the 4♦K♠8♥ and it checked to Turculeanu, who put out a gamble of 325. Only Dumitrascu called.
The turn was the 9♣ and Dumitrascu checked, allowing Turculeanu to continue for 600. He was called again and we saw the Q♥ land at the river. After another check Turculeanu put out of venture of 2,100 and got a snappy call. He flipped over the 4♠4♥ for a flopped set, and Dumitrascu mucked.

Thanks to Media Coordinator Jan Kores, here is a few of the notable names who've sat down so far:
Slaven Popov - a Bulgarian pro who has made two EPT final tables, let alone a Eureka Bulgaria final table. He goes by the name suarez BG on PokerStars, where he has greater than $1.3 million in earnings.
Another Bulgarian, Fahredin Mustafov, may be a few of the field here on Day 1A. The talented player has greater than $200,000 in live earnings and greater than $550,000 in online winnings.

Italian pro Davide Suriano and Ireland's David Lappin are within the mix, as is Zoltan Gal - winner of Eureka4 Vienna. Romanian player and EPT11 Deauville runner-up Dany Parlafes also has chips in front of him.
2:10pm: Here's the way it worksLevel 1 - Blinds 25/50
PokerStars Tournament Director Thomas Lamatsch has explained to the players just how these starting Day 1s will work. In case you bust here on Day 1A, you cannot re-enter today, so it's essentially a freezeout. The similar goes tomorrow on Day 1B.
However, players who bust Day 1A or Day 1B can purchase into Day 1C, which starts at 9pm tomorrow night. Only players who've already played in a single of the 2 starting days are eligible to enter.
2:05pm: All eyes on NegreanuLevel 1 - Blinds 25/50
While Daniel Negreanu hasn't sat all the way down to play, he was the primary person we saw when entering the tournament room. It's hard to not notice when there are greater than a dozen people lining as much as take photos with the Team PokerStars Pro!
Like we said, it's likely Negreanu will play tomorrow because the Romanian premier of the 'Kid Poker' documentary happens tonight. Even so, Kid Poker was at the floor greeting players, looking sharp within the suit he wore to a press conference earlier today.

1:30pm: A GLANCE across the city
If you've never been to Bucharest, you actually owe it to yourself to test it out. With its incredible history and stunning Old Town, the Romanian capital is a smart place to visit, and even perhaps play a bit poker.
It's Day 1A today but when you are not here yet do not be concerned; there's Day 1B tomorrow at 12pm local time, so head on over to Bucharest and produce your A-game.

12:30pm: Day 1A set to begin!
Welcome to beautiful Bucharest for the primary ever Romanian stop of the Eureka Poker Tour! We're here on the fantastic InterContinental Hotel within the city centre, where Day 1A of the €1,000+€100 Main Event will soon be kicking off.
This is the second one leg of Eureka Poker Tour Season 6, following on from an ideal event in Rozvadov in March, by which Ivan Luca got heads-up along with his girlfriend Maria Constanza Lampropulos before taking down the title. Do we see a similarly intriguing storyline play out here over the following five days of play? You will have to stick around and see!
You certainly won't need to miss any of the action, for Team PokerStars Pro and all-round poker icon Daniel Negreanu has made the adventure back to his homeland and can be playing inside the festival. It's likely he'll play on Day 1B, as tonight there's the little matter of the Romanian premier of the 'Kid Poker' documentary.

Play kicks off at 2pm local time (12pm WET), and today the players will play 10 45-minute levels. Then there's Day 1B tomorrow, and a turbo Day 1C tomorrow night. This can be a re-entry event, so anyone who busts today, and even during Day 1B, can still take another shot on Day 1C.
Players at the moment are arriving so don't go anywhere!

- 25,000 starting stack- Blinds starting at 25/50 for 500 big blinds- Levels are 45 minutes on Day 1 and they will be 10 of them. On Day 2 from level 15 onwards levels increase to 60 minutes.- Late registration is open until the beginning of level seven.- Day 1A is today, Day 1B happens tomorrow and there is also a different Turbo Day 1C tomorrow evening at 9pm local time. That's only open to players who've busted either Day 1A or 1B. The sector will then combine for the primary time on Friday.
