Prior to the Fourth of July news the soldiers were already listed because the favorites to win the 2016-17 NBA championship at Westgate LV Superbook (7/4), but immediately following the announcement the Vegas book released new odds that experience the Dubs at an astonishing 2/3 to win next year's title.

Durant's former team, the OKC Thunder, took an important drop within the 2016-17 championship futures. Previous to losing their superstar forward the Thunder were available at 7/1, on account of their impressive playoff run, but now they're right down to 30/1.

Chris Andrews, sportsbook director for South Point Las Vegas, was enjoying an afternoon off at home at the Fourth of July, eating cereal and watching the Twilight Zone, when his phone rang Monday morning. At the other end of that decision was his team on the South Point wondering where they need to adjust the NBA futures within the wake of Durant’s decision?

“We went from Golden State 3/2 to win the championship to Even money,” says Andrews. “And, we moved their Western Conference title odds from Even to -150.”

Andrews says that adding Durant won’t have much impact on how much basketball fans bet the Warriors, just because they were betting them blindly almost every night anyways. As for Golden State breaking its own record of 73 wins in 2016-17, Andrews isn’t so sure it’s a forgone conclusion.

“I’m not the most important basketball guy around, but I MIGHT say their (win) total have to be in around 69 wins,” he says. “I mean, 73 was the record and it’s tough to do this again. You simply can’t publish 73. It’s got to be less. But that’s one man’s humble opinion.”

Scott Cooley, from online sportsbook BookMaker.eu, had an identical absorb at the win total for the Dubs.

"Public won't consider carefully to take the over, but when you place the number too high sharps might be lining as much as play the under. My guess is we'll see a more conservative approach from the soldiers regarding personnel this coming season. They will not make the similar mistake and run out of gas within the playoffs."

In addition to their championship odds, the Westgate LV Superbook was the primary it our desk with an updated regular season win total for the soldiers in 2016-17. Lower than an hour after the inside track broke they'd their Over/Under set at 68.5 but later within the day reduced that number by a whole game to 67.5.
