A 31-year-old Puerto Rican man with a love for poker who died unexpectedly was actually able to sit at one last home game with friends. At the wake of Henry Rosario Martinez in Barceloneta, a town in the northern region of Puerto Rico, friends of the deceased wanted to honor his life by holding a poker game, even dealing him cards and placing them in his hand, as well as giving him chips. According to univision.com, this kind of thing is gaining popularity in Puerto Rico.

Woman Gives Birth While Still Alive In Poker Tournament, Husband Takes Over Her Stack

Australian poker player Katrina Sheary had bagged her chip stack in one of the preliminary events of the 2016 Aussie Millions tournament series in Melbourne when she came home and not long after went into labor. Unable to return to play the next day after giving birth, her husband, Peter Sheary, took over her chip stack. Peter went on to finish in 25th for $6,495 in the A$1,025+125 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that attracted a field of 1,320 players.

Man Robs Casino, Gets Caught Gambling With The Money At Nearby Casino

A man robbed a casino in Montana, then went to a nearby casino to gamble where he was later arrested, police said, according to a report kbzk.com. Authorities allege that George Leon Goodrie robbed the Emerald City Casino in Great Falls and then drove in a stolen pickup truck to another casino in order to play the machines. Police showed up at the casino and arrested him while he was at a machine. The 42-year-old is facing charges for robbery and theft, both felonies

Love Triangle Led to Trio Getting Caught in Casino Scam

A former casino vice president, a cocktail waitress and a regular gambler are accused of having conspired together to steal more than $400,000 from a Pennsylvania casino. The state alleges that between May 2014 and April 2015, Robert Pellegrini, a former executive at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, employee Rochelle Poszeluznyj and patron Mark Heltzel worked together in a slot machine scheme that netted them each a share of $418,793. They each face more than 170 counts including theft, identity theft and criminal conspiracy.

A $200,000 buy-in poker tournament with a $3.4 million first-place prize apparently wasn’t “high roller” enough for a few players among the starting field of 52. The $200,000 World Poker Tour event held at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Manilla, which was won by 22-year-old Fedor Holz, saw three players leave their respective chip stacks unattended in order to play baccarat, according to a WPT live update.

Esfandiari DQ’d From Poker Tournament For Peeing In A Container

Poker legend Antonio Esfandiari was disqualified from play in the $5,300 buy-in PokerStars Caribbean Adventure main event for something he did underneath the table. Esfandiari and poker-playing businessman Bill Perkins had a prop bet that called for Esfandiari to lunge everywhere he went for 48 hours. Only five players have won three bracelets in a year.

Cop Stabbed In The Face After Poker Room Scuffle

A Miami police officer was forced to fire after he was stabbed in the face at the Magic City Casino. Witnessess said a man in the poker room was screaming and acting aggressively just before 1 a.m. when he was asked to leave by the staff. When the man refused, employees asked Officer Raul Perez to remove the man from the building. A scuffle ensued. At one point the man drew a knife and stabbed Perez multiple times including in the face.

Cleveland Poker Dealer Gets Probation For Theft

A former poker dealer at Cleveland’s Horseshoe Casino received 18 months of probation after admitting to stealing $711 worth of chips and cash from the poker room in 2015, according to Cleveland.com. He admitted to siphoning off money from the poker tables and counting it as tips.
