Online Casinos Pay Far Better Than Land on Sports Futures

Better odds and a wider variety of bets offered are reasons sports betting fans are leaving Las Vegas books for online casinos.

As the Super Bowl draws near, more and more sports betting patrons are turning to online casinos to place bets on the potential NFL champion. Not only do Internet gambling sites create ease in placing wagers, but the payouts are far more generous than most Las Vegas casino sports books.

Such longshots as the Pittsburgh Steelers illustrate the advantage of playing at online casinos. MGM Mirage casinos carry the Steelers at 75-1, while Harrah's properties list the defending champions at 50-1.

These two ownership groups run 80 percent of Las Vegas Strip gambling, preventing customers from effectively shopping for a better, more true deal. But Internet gaming sites such as Gamblers' Palace features the Steelers at 100-1.

The same poor payments occur at the giant casino resorts for favorites, as well. The New Orleans Saints are 3.5 -1 at Gamblers' Palace, and 3.65-1 at The Greek, another online casino. But MGM only pays 3-1 if the Saints win out, and Harrah's returns a miserable 2-1.

Land casinos make the most return from slots gambling, so often management only cares about drawing slot players, Sports books are featured mainly as a lure to draw customers, and sports gambling patrons are often the red-headed stepchild to casino executives.

But online casinos have no issue with square footage costs and returns, and are happy to offer fair betting lines to players that exclusively wager on sports, as well as slots and table gamblers. The accumulated difference in payouts by Internet gaming makes playing online a must for all dedicated sports bettors.
