A long battle have been raging and features was drawn within the sand in regards to the legality of poker, and whether the sport is certainly one of luck or skill. Authorities arrested the person and charged him with operating an illegal gambling operation. The owner, who was convicted, is appealing his case to the Supreme Court, asserting that poker shouldn't be illegal as it is a game of skill.
There is precedent around the US on each side of the problem. Several courts have ruled that poker is a game of skill, while others have ruled there may be an excessive amount of chance within the game for it to be considered a game of skill. Each state has their very own laws regarding home poker games.
In Virginia, home games are legal. In Georgia, the similar games are illegal. How the government sees poker is a key to states which might be trying to move forward and make allowance home games among friends.
