Elvis Presley Estate Sues Las Vegas Casino Over Memorabilia

Westgate/WikipediaThe estate of music legend Elvis Presley has sued a casino in Las Vegas over memorabilia that the casino is allegedly holding onto without permission, the Associated Press reported.

The lawsuit was filed in Clark County on Monday, and it aims to retrieve hundreds of items that were provided to the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino for its reportedly under-attended “Graceland Presents Elvis” exhibit, which was operated by a separate firm.

The 28,000-square-foot exhibit closed last month.

Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. alleges that the memorabilia is being held hostage while the casino and Exhibit A Circle, the third-party operator, are engaged in their own dispute. The casino claims that tenant Exhibit A Circle defaulted on its 10-year lease after the casino spent a considerable amount of money to prepare the space.

The estate also has claimed that it no longer has access to video that has allowed it to monitor the items at the casino. In addition to wanting the items back, the estate is asking the court for punitive damages against Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino.
