ANZPT6 Melbourne Day 2: The net brigade

We're beginning to get towards the business end of the ANZPT Melbourne Main Event. The large screen is ready to tick under 100 players left for the primary time, and when players lookup and notice that milestone, they are going to know that things are about to get serious.

As tables break and new line ups are formed, they are going to be confronted with increasingly quality players. They'll also probably have some pretty big stacks. Just wandering the room now, we couldn't help but notice the dominance of the net brigade. The young guns out to make their mark at the live poker scene. And in the event that they begin to get some chips, be careful everyone else.

So who're these online phenoms and what are their names?

Well first we've got the crowd who clearly chose their online names in keeping with their very own real life names or initials. Perfectly reasonable, even though a tad boring. But simply because Baza88, Lynskey99, brett threat, Eddy and mjw006 have nitty online usernames, does not imply their game is equally tight.

At the following level up, there's some creativity behind Knightsgee, Jackovich and WhiteRabbito. A GAGGLE with names that experience a bit of mystery, and a few intrigue to the tale in their background.

Finally there a bunch with usernames that probably raise a couple of eyebrows. Usernames which can be part amusing, part disturbing. A NARRATIVE probably better left untold. We're talking concerning the likes of Banana Thief, Tiny molester, SkunkDen and MON3Y$HOT.

These guys are all still alive within the ANZPT Melbourne Main Event, however the person who has the most important stack of all of them is GooGieMonA.

GooGieMonA probably fits within the intriguing category in the case of username, but Edison Nguyen's chip stack is currently in a gaggle of its own within the online circles with over 200,000 in chips. And it kind of feels the others agree.

As Nguyen was raking in another big pot, Adrian "Knightsgee" Attenborough wandered past his table and quipped, "Oh, are all of us playing for second place now?"

Nguyen often goes under the radar but his record is impressive with live wins on the Aussie Millions and ACOP in addition to a last table eventually year's WSOP APAC. And the web kids know exactly how fearsome the GooGieMonA can be.
