Michael Mizrachi became a household name two years ago on the World Series of Poker. The pro poker player won the Player of the year award, while rolling to several titles and finishing on the final table in general event.
Just a few years later, and Mizrachi is back at it. With two-thirds of the 6,352 players that entered already sent to the rail within the $10,000 bguy-in tournament that began this past weekend, Mizrachi is sitting in seventh position within the chip count. The professional is chasing Mark Kroon, who holds 246,900. Mizrachi has 176,100.
Another big-name pro could also be making headlines on the main event. Phil Ivey, who boycotted the largest tournament series in poker two years ago in keeping with Full Tilt Poker not paying back US players after the corporate was indicted, is back, and is creating a run. Ivey sits in 36th place, with 119,650.
Phil Hellmuth, who has made a habit out of constructing grand entrances on the WSOP, did so again this past weekend. Hellmuth, who's the leader among all-time WSOP wins, is showing well to this point on this year's main event. Hellmuth has 92,850 in chips, adequate for 62nd place.
Wednesday would be the last of the Day 3 action, and Thursday the rest players will come together for the primary time as a bunch and all play at the same day. From there, the tournament will head towards the weekend trying to get all the way down to the general table by Monday.
The main event on the WSOP is thought of as to be the biggest and most prestigious tournament on this planet. Each year, over 6,000 players file into the Rio in Las Vegas with the hope of turning into the primary event champion. By today, only one-third of these dreamers were left within the 2013 version of the event.
