Court Orders California Tribe To Cease Online Bingo

Late last week, the U.S... District Court for the Southern District of California issued a brief restraining order on the request of the state of California to dam the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel from continuing to provide online bingo to these in California, outside of the tribe’s lands.

California sued the tribe last month, because it believes the tribe is violating state and federal law, in addition to the 2003 compact between the 2 parties.

The tribe says the state is wrong, because it contends that the kind of gaming is permissible under the compact and under federal law way to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
