Edward Norton on David Letterman Show: Sequel to Rounders "a chance"

Nearly a year ago, PokerNews reported news that Harvey Weinstein, whose The Weinstein Company used to be again working with Miramax, expected Rounders 2 to be made “instantaneously.” The inside track came after Weinstein told Deadline Hollywood that star Matt Damon and screenwriters David Levien and Brian Koppelman, who also scribed the poker film Runner, Runner, were all on board.

Indeed, both Levien and Koppelman confirmed to PokerNews that they do have a narrative for Rounders 2, which was rumored to star Robert De Niro in a villain role, if and when the movie is to be made.

“It’s a question of the firms who control the rights getting behind it and allowing it to happen,” they said.

Unfortunately there was little movement in 2014, though Edward Norton, who played the infamous "Worm" in Rounders, mentioned a potential sequel at the Nov. 20 episode of the David Letterman Show.

One of the primary things Letterman talks about is Norton’s memorable performance in Rounders, and that he heard a rumor a sequel might be within the pipeline.

“I don’t understand how you're making a second Rounders, is there an opportunity of it?” Letterman asked.

Norton replied with the following:

“I think there's a possibility of it. Yeah, we couldn’t have had more fun making that movie. That was top-of-the-line gangs of individuals ever. We did it right at the cusp of what became roughly the resurgence of the poker phenomenon. And that i think Matt and that i talked later, we should always have negotiated like a five-percent rake on every poker pot that was played after that, because then shall we have made the film with our money."

Check out Norton’s interview with Letterman below. He talks about Rounders 2 shortly after he sits down:
